PDF to QBO converter
Turn a PDF bank or credit card statement into a QBO Web Connect file that QuickBooks imports like a bank download. Check the balance first, so only complete statements reach your books.
Converted in this browser. The PDF is never uploaded. Check it yourself
- Stays on your device. The PDF is read in your browser and never uploaded.
- Checked against the balance. Rows that don't add up to the printed balance turn red.
- Free for 5 pages a day. Excel and CSV, no account.

QBO, OFX and Xero settings
QuickBooks Desktop matches the bank ID against its list of banks; if it refuses the file, enter your bank's ID. Credit card statements are exported as credit card accounts automatically. Xero reads CSV dates in your organisation's regional order, so pick the order your Xero organisation uses.
How it works
Drop the PDF
Bank or credit card. The table and balance check are free, so you see the result first.
Confirm it balances
A green check means the transactions add up from the opening to the closing balance.
Download QBO
Import it in QuickBooks Desktop with File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files, or in QuickBooks Online under Banking, Upload transactions.
What a PDF to QBO converter does
A QBO file is an OFX bank statement with a QuickBooks bank ID (INTU.BID) added. QuickBooks treats it like a download from your bank: it matches transactions instead of asking you to map columns, and each transaction carries an ID so importing the same statement twice doesn't duplicate it.
QuickBooks Desktop checks the bank ID against its own list of banks. The file uses 3000 by default; if QuickBooks refuses it, enter your bank's ID under "QBO, OFX and Xero settings" above the download buttons. Credit card statements are written as credit card accounts, with purchases as charges and payments as credits.
QuickBooks Online reads some PDFs itself. When does QBO still help?
QuickBooks Online can upload a PDF statement directly. Intuit's help page says the statement "can be from any bank, as long as it's in English", and that its "team of global experts may review your statement". That covers a lot of people. It doesn't help when:
- you use QuickBooks Desktop, which imports Web Connect (.qbo) files, not PDFs;
- the statement isn't in English;
- you'd rather nobody else sees the statement. Here it's read in your browser and never uploaded.
Using something other than QuickBooks? Most other apps take OFX.
Check that nothing is uploaded
You don't have to take our word for it. Two ways to see for yourself:
- Go offline. Once this page has loaded, turn off Wi-Fi or switch on airplane mode, then drop a statement in. It still converts, because the converter runs in your browser and the page keeps a copy of itself for offline use.
- Watch the network. Open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac), choose the Network tab, then convert a file. You'll see no request carrying your PDF.
The one exception is AI repair, which you have to switch on yourself for a statement our parser couldn't read cleanly. It sends the text we extracted from the PDF (not the file) to our server, and only after you tick a box agreeing to it. Details are on the privacy page.

Questions
Is the QBO download free?
No. QBO is part of Pro, which isn't on sale yet. Reading the PDF, the table, the balance check and the Excel and CSV downloads are free now.
Will importing twice create duplicates?
Each transaction gets an ID built from its date, amount, description and position, so the same statement produces the same IDs and QuickBooks can skip ones it already has.
Have you tested the file in every QuickBooks version?
No. The file follows the Web Connect format QuickBooks Desktop and Online both use, and its structure is checked against the OFX specification, but we haven't imported it into every QuickBooks version. If an import fails, email us what QuickBooks said.
QuickBooks says it can't verify the financial institution. What now?
That's QuickBooks Desktop checking the bank ID. Open "QBO, OFX and Xero settings", enter your bank's ID and download again.
Is my statement uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened and read by your browser, on your device. The only time anything leaves your device is AI repair, which you switch on yourself; it sends the extracted text, not the file, and we don't store it.
Does it work with scanned statements?
Not yet. The converter reads the text inside a PDF. A scan or a photo of a statement is an image with no text in it, so nothing comes out. Most statements downloaded from online banking are text-based.
